YouTube to Shutdown Trending Page, Introduce Category‑Specific Charts

After 10 years, YouTube is getting rid of the all in one Trending page and replacing it with genre based charts—music, gaming, podcasts and more. They say this is how users are discovering content today via personalized recommendations.

For creators this means more niche visibility and optimization opportunities. Nigerian tech and news creators should target their language or local category—Local Tech or African News Charts—to get visibility.

Also check out the new “YouTube Charts” tab for trend signals and trending hashtags to boost Shorts discovery.

So its advisable to target micro trends in your niche; optimize for category charts not the general Trending page. Use relevant hashtags and local descriptors.
